CSW Parent Association

PARENT ASSOCIATION WELCOME
As the beginning of each school year can be overwhelming, especially for the parents of multiple children, I will keep this short. I am a proud parent of students who have attended, and who currently attend, CSW. Behind the scenes of each accomplishment is a lot of hard work and dedication by faculty, staff and parents like you. There are many ways to become involved at CSW. For the new parents, finding a way to support the school can be difficult. There are numerous tasks that require only an hour or two of your time every few months, and help make all the difference in the world. Enclosed with this newsletter is a handout that outlines some of these tasks. If you can help with anything, terrific. If you can think of other tasks, just let me know. All comments are welcome.
Some of you may not be aware that the auction is one of the main fund-raising events for the school. While the auction takes place in spring, plans are already underway for the auction. I am pleased to announce that this year’s chairperson is Lynn Adelman. Lynn may be reached at: csw2009mom@gmail.com or 234- 1057. Lynn will need many volunteers to assist in both large and small tasks. Further information regarding the auction will be found in the next issue of this newsletter.
Here’s to a great year!

JOIN THE AFTER-PROM PARENTS
Please join us at our first After-Prom planning meeting. All potential volunteers and their ideas are welcome. The first meeting will be Tuesday, Sept. 18, at 7 p.m. in Room 326 at Charter. This is a very important meeting because many preliminary decisions will be made. Further planning meetings are scheduled: Tuesday, Oct. 23 and Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. in room 326 at Charter. Please plan to attend. Whether you can help us with ideas, chair a committee, or help at our work parties, we can use your talents. If you have any questions or are interested in chairing a committee, feel free to contact Kathi Peeke or Marianne Slovin before the meetings. Please note that several committee chairs do not require attendance at meetings or availability at any specific time. Thanks to Teresa Tabah and Sharon Howard for their tremendous effort on the 2007 After-Prom! The students will have many fond memories. Thanks in advance for your anticipated assistance. Here’s to a great 2008 After Prom. We would still like two upcoming junior parents to complete the group to chair this year’s After-Prom with us, so please call Kathi Peeke at 234-9079 or email kpeeke@verizon.net or Marianne Slovin at 234-0455 for further information.

CHARTER FORCE’S TAILGATERS
NEED GRILLS TO FEED PLAYERS
The football tailgate parents are asking for donations of used or new grills for tailgate cookouts. Anyone who would like to donate a grill to the team may contact Suzanne Madden@ snjmadden@comcast.net or 733- 0181. Any donations would be greatly appreciated, not only by the parents, but also by the players. Everyone enjoys those hamburgers and hot dogs. Go Force!

AUCTION 2008 MEETING
Welcome back to the 2007-2008 school year! Last year’s Charter Auction was a great success, raising more than $34,000, and we are already thinking ahead to this year’s auction. All Charter parents are invited to participate in the auction, which raises much-needed funds for the students’
extracurricular activities. The initial planning meeting will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. in Room 323. At this meeting, we will discuss the theme of the auction, ask for volunteers to head committees and seek volunteers to work on committees.
Please join us.
If you have questions, or would like to help but can’t make the meeting, please contact Lynn Adelman at csw2009mom@gmail.com or (302) 234-1057 or Sherry Lyons at CSWAUCTION@aol.com or (302) 454-9339.
We look forward to seeing everyone at the meeting.
