Course Description

This course explores the role students play in our economy as buyers, sellers, workers, and entrepreneurs. The state of the national economy, how markets operate, and the role of government are also examined. The study of economics helps students make better decisions and entails a special way of looking at the world and at the way people and businesses work. Topics such as opportunity costs, supply and demand, labor, money and banking, inflation, international trade, and others are examined. As a focus of the course, students will have the opportunity to develop and practice entrepreneurial skills by operating their own business. Over a two-month period students must design, produce, market and sell a product for profit.
