Tennis Courts After Renovations

The Charter School of Wilmington was a 2011 United States Tennis Association (USTA) Facility Funding Grant Recipient.

The USTA paid $8,400 of the total $42,000 (20%) needed to refinish our tennis courts. They also pay the maintenance fee to recondition the courts each year. The rest of the funding for the renovations came from the Red Clay School District and Charter’s athletic budget.

The USTA grant came from the Facilities Assistance Services and Grants program, which includes advocacy and technical advice, as well as financial assistance.

During the summer, the USTA will also be running a variety of programs at the CSW tennis courts including USTA adult leagues, Junior Team Tennis leagues, and 10 and Under playing and teaching clinics.

“The USTA Delaware District is excited by the opportunity that this partnership with The Charter School of Wilmington has created, especially being able to run USTA programs at the courts,” noted Paul N. Costello, President, USTA Delaware District.
