The Charter School of Wilmington’s Team A won the 2024 Delaware Envirothon competition at Abbotts Mill Nature Center in Milford on April 24.
CSW’s Team B placed third in the Envirothon competition; we sent three teams to the annual event.
Our team will represent Delaware at the 2024 National Conservation Foundation (NCF) International Envirothon, which will be held at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, New York, from July 28 to August 3.
For over three hours, each team answered questions, reviewed specimens, and measured topics related to aquatic ecology, soils/land use, wildlife, forestry, and the current environmental issue of “Renewable Energy for a Sustainable Future.” Teams also had to give a seven to 10-minute oral presentation of a scenario based on the current issue.
CSW’s 1st place team members earned a $500 scholarship from the Delaware Envirothon, other prizes, and an award plaque. The second through seventh-place teams received more than $1,300 in special team awards and cash prizes.
First-place Team Members include Siddhi Dinavahi (11), Arya Gupta (11), Eesha Sagiraju (11), Dharshini Senthilnathan (11), and Amber Wong (12).
Third-place Team Members include Dhriti Tattari (12), Finnigan Carroll (11), Rujula Borkar (11), Saathvi Arunkumar (12), and Subiksha Srinivasan Vidya (10).
Team C Members include Aashish Prashanth (11), Aishwarya Reddy (10), Asvika Gobinathan (10), Kushi Vadranam (11), and Rakshetha Balaji (11).
The Envirothon Competition is sponsored by the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control.
