iGEM Teamj

CSW’s iGEM team has secured funding to attend the Paris iGEM Jamboree October 23-26 thanks to considerable help from Dr. Kevin Solomon at the University of Delaware. iGEM (International Genetically Engineered Machine) is the world's largest community of synbio researchers, educators, industry, investors, startups, and policymakers in one place to build a better world using synthetic biology.

Team members traveling to Paris include Brian Altrichter (12),  Doruk Elbeyli (12), Arya Gupta (12),  Anna Huang (11), Arianna Li (12), Rohan Sivva (12), Subiksha Srinivasan Vidya (11), and Elaine Zuo (11). Their moderator is Ms. Margit Olson, who has been championing this opportunity since 2022.

Some team members completed a BOOST summer for hands-on lab training at the UD.  After weekly meetings, students put together a project on Rubisco, sparked by an activity in Biology that was researched and explored. CSW is among only 11 high school teams in North America and one of 9 in the U.S. Internationally, only 56 teams compete at this level.
